An unforgettable evening of choral music and international collaboration unfolded at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Peja, where Defrost Youth Choir (Norway) and Siparantum Choir (Kosovo) shared the stage in the concert “Northern Echoes.”

The concert was preceded by an intensive one-day workshop led by conductors Thomas Caplin and Memli Kelmendi, providing singers from both ensembles with a valuable opportunity for artistic exchange, professional development, and collaborative music-making.

One of the evening’s highlights was the joint performance by the two choirs. Together they presented the Albanian work Mori Dranfofillja e Vogël by Mark Kaçinari, conducted by Memli Kelmendi, followed by the Norwegian composition Bruremarsj by Jan Magne Førde, conducted by Thomas Caplin. The performances symbolized a meaningful musical dialogue between two cultures, demonstrating the unifying power of choral music.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Kosovo, Ms. Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, and Deputy Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mr. Jeton Mehmeti, whose presence underscored the significance of the event.

The concert concluded with a shared message of friendship, cultural exchange, and artistic excellence, leaving a lasting impression on both performers and audience. Northern Echoes served as a testament to the ability of choral music to transcend borders, foster meaningful connections, and celebrate the richness of cultural diversity.

“Northern Echoes” is a musical encounter between Kosovo and Norway, where two outstanding choral ensembles will build an artistic bridge through the harmony of their voices.
